EB and Josh at Bridgewaters

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Alright, this is going to be a sort of mega-post.. Be warned. EB and Josh had such an awesome wedding, and then on top of that, I brought along the studio lights and did some portraits during the reception and there are SO many pictures from there that I’m in love with.

Anyways, I’ll just jump right into it. I started out with EB at the Standard. The windows in her room were floor to ceiling and wrap around, so the light was gorgeous.

Joao, in the meantime caught up with Josh while he was heading over to the High Line.

We met up on the High Line. EB used to work for Friends of the High Line, so they lined things up to do the ketubah signing there, which was an amazing hookup.Bridgewaters-7.jpg  Bridgewaters-9.jpg Bridgewaters-8.jpg Bridgewaters-10.jpg

Then we headed over to Bridgewaters, where EBs grandma was waiting. We arrive at Bridgewaters and see EBs grandma.Bridgewaters-12.jpg  Bridgewaters-13.jpg EB and Josh's ceremony at Bridgewaters. Mid-reception, Josh and his guys did an amazing acapella piece.Bridgewaters-27.jpg Bridgewaters-28.jpgBridgewaters-29.jpg

And then, EB, Josh and a whole crew of their friends busted out this INCREDIBLE choreographed dance piece. My jaw dropped.Bridgewaters-30.jpg Bridgewaters-31.jpg Bridgewaters-32.jpg

Throughout the reception, Joao and I were doing tag team shooting portraits. I haven’t done this since Allyson and Dan’s wedding last year, and I was so stoked that EB and Josh mentioned doing this. One thing that I think is so great about doing this is that it’s a chance for everyone who wants it to make sure that they get an awesome photo of themselves at the wedding. Yes, there’s a story behind this photo. But If you don’t know it, I’m going to keep you guessing.Bridgewaters-41.jpg Bridgewaters-42.jpg Bridgewaters-43.jpg Bridgewaters-44.jpg Bridgewaters-45.jpg Bridgewaters-46.jpg Bridgewaters-47.jpg Bridgewaters-48.jpg Bridgewaters-49.jpg Bridgewaters-50.jpg Bridgewaters-51.jpg Bridgewaters-52.jpg Bridgewaters-53.jpg Bridgewaters-54.jpg Bridgewaters-55.jpg

Kara and Darren at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Kara and Darren had their wedding up at Sleepy Hollow Country Club. It was great to get upstate again for a wedding, and the space had a fantastic classic vibe for the wedding. Also, Jeff, the club manager was really amazing and definitely hooked things up as I was doing some location scouting before things got rolling.

I met up with the girls while they were getting ready. That’s Ilise Harris on the left, doing Kara’s hair and makeup (which she rocked).

Some details. They both work in the book industry (he deals rare books, and she’s in publishing), so they bound their programs inside pages from old books, which I thought was a great touch.Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_519.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_209.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_217.jpgSleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_226.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_230.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_252.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_254.jpgSleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_271.jpg

The rain was a bit of a bummer, but I felt like it did make things seem really cozy inside.Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_361.jpgSleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_334.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_374.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_387.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_393.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_449.jpgSleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_550.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_614.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_626.jpg Sleepy_Hollow_Country_Club_20090828_653.jpg

They had Michael Arenella & his Dreamland Orchestra play, which was a great match for the mood of the place, both musically and visually. I couldn’t help but snap a ton of pictures of these guys, and Michael later told me that they play at the Clover Club on Wednesday nights. I love the bar (some of the best mixed drinks I’ve found in New York), so I’ll definitely be swinging by to catch them sometime soon.

Meghan and Jonathan at the Church of Notre Dame

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

It’s been a busy last couple weeks, and I’ve been chugging through the post production on some really fun recent wedding before heading out to Montauk tomorrow for Natalie and Dan’s wedding. So there are a bunch of new blog posts coming up, starting with Meghan and Darren. These guys had an awesome wedding at the Church of Notre Dame. There was a great DIY vibe to a lot of the elements, from Meghan’s veil (which she finished up while I was shooting the girls right before the wedding), to the reception itself, which a lot of their friends and family helped out with.

I had Joao second shooting this one with me, and I really loved some of the shots he got. He came with his 400mm lens… something he used to use while shooting soccer in Brazil, and got some great tight shots during the ceremony.

I started out at the church where Meghan was getting ready.

For our pre-wedding meet up, I went to a mass at the Church of Notre Dame with Meghan and Jonathan. It was really great to have gotten a feel for the space and what to expect for the wedding. Recently, most of the ceremonies that I’ve shot are very short, so it was a great change of pace to have some more time to explore everything photographically speaking.
