Betsy and Joe at the Foundry

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

I have been excited to shoot these guys wedding ever since they came to me last year with the idea of shooting some fight-night style portraits for their invites (logistic-wise, it didn’t end up happening, but I think it was such a great indication of their personalities and creativity). I met up with Betsy at the hotel after she finished running a 5k race that morning (!) with her veil on. Okay, so it wasn’t the same veil she wore to the wedding. But super impressive.

Joe was hanging out in the bar downstairs waiting for Betsy to come down.

I know, I go on and on about the Foundry, but it really is such a rad spot. They had some sweet weather for the cocktail hour in the courtyard.

These guys have a brilliant sense of humor. Custom made foam fingers that they busted out while everyone was dancing. So rad.

Ellen and Greg

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I just got back from a really rad weekend out in Montauk. I headed out for a couple days to shoot Ellen and Greg’s wedding, and it really was an amazing event. It was tons of fun to be back out on the east end, and these guys were a blast. They had some really lovely touches, like a photobook of the Hamptons for their guests to sign, and a old school photobooth. They had me out the day before the wedding to shoot the rehearsal dinner, and I’m so glad that happened. Not only was it a chance to shoot some lovely pictures, but it was also a chance to meet their family members and closest friends, which really helped give me direction on the day of the wedding. On the wedding day, Tom joined me and he really rocked it.

Ian and Julia

I’m back to New York and excited for a super busy June. I’m going to be on the road a ton this month, shooting in different spots in New York, and I’m glad to see that the summer’s finally hit the city. Ian and Julia were such an awesome couple to kick the summer off with. I headed with them up to Blue Hill at Stone Barns. That’s Dan Barber’s restaurant about 30 miles upstate. For a lot of people, the reputation of the food here is the draw. But on top of that, the location is amazing, and I especially loved Ian and Julia’s outdoor ceremony.

That’s asparagus covered in prosciutto and dipped in sesame seeds on the right there. Yes, awesome.

As the sun set everyone moved inside to finish the meal and the celebration.
