Colleen and Jason

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Here are my favorite pictures from Colleen and Jason’s wedding. I loved their unique approach to planning the wedding: They had their wedding on a Friday, with just a few close family members. Then the following day they had their reception with all their friends, and they had me show a slideshow from the day before to share with everyone.

We had been watching the weather all week, and we were super lucky that after a week straight of rain forecasts, the day of the ceremony was really beautiful.

I went over to their place in DUMBO while they were getting ready.

After the preparations, we walked over to the waterfront park in DUMBO for the ceremony

Colleen’s sister, Kerry officiated the ceremony.

Afterwards, we cruised around DUMBO a bit and snapped some pictures with Jason and Colleen.

When I asked if there was any outdoor cafe nearby that would be a good spot to drop by, the suggested Pedro’s right away. I love the spot and the color outside.

The next day, they had the reception at Smack Mellon. I showed up early to set up the projector, and also to get some pictures of the place. These amazing floral arrangements were done by Phoebe at Opalia Flowers

Colleen and Jason had donuts on their first date, so at the reception, instead of a cake, they served donuts.

They had some beautiful invitations, and had a big poster of it at the entrance for guests to sign.

Colleen and Jason handed out tickets as their guests came in, for a surprise later on in the evening.

In addition to the bar, they had a keg of beer from Brooklyn Brewery.

James + Vivian

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Here’s some of my favorites from James and Vivian’s recent wedding. These guys were lots of fun. They got married at First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn Heights, and had the reception over at Smack Mellon. The original game plan was to just have everyone walk over to DUMBO after the ceremony, an idea which I really loved.. but we had a little rain thrown in the mix. They had Dianne Velez from Color Blind Productions coordinating everything on the day, and she was great! She even called me before things got started to suggest a few spots where we would be able to get a few pictures outside, even though it was raining.

Vivian hid out in the church basement while the guests were arriving.

I loved shooting at Smack Mellon.. It’s hard to go wrong with the Manhattan bridge right outside your window.

They had some great details, including hand written menus on each table, as well as oolong tea as a favor.
