I’m happy to be posting my first wedding of ’09! Sam and Leah had me prepared for a big party over at Stage 6, and it was a great way to get things rolling for this year.

I met Leah over at their place.

Sam and Leah see each other for the first time.

They brought in a crew of Norwegian friends and they were the ushers. As you can see, they took their jobs very seriously.

Just before the ceremony.

Sam’s grandpa Peter officiated the ceremony. The ceremony and the things that Peter said were amazing, period… and the fact that it was Sam’s grandfather officiating really made it special.

As a part of the Scottish Knot tying tradition, Peter had them exchange their clans’ tartans during the ceremony. That’s Sam wearing the Johnston plaid, while Leah got the Maclean Tartan.

They took their guest book apart and put a page at each table. I thought that was a great way to give everyone a chance to sign something at their own pace.

Amazing job on the flowers. They were done by Flowers, Sticks and Stones. I can’t find their website… but there’s more about them here.

Another really fun couple! I met up with Jennifer at her parents house where she was getting ready with her mom and her brides maids.

Scott + Sonya

Scott and Sonya just got married at Studio 6 at Steiner Studios. Studio 6 recently came on the scene as a venue here in NY, and it was the first time I’ve shot there. I’ve got a few more coming up this year, and now that I’ve seen the space, I’m really looking forward to it. The space is amazing, and I definitely don’t mind the commute… it’s just a few minutes from my place in Williamsburg.

I got there while Scott was getting ready.

There band prepares for the ceremony. They played Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” as Sonya was walking down the aisle, which was really lovely.

I definitely can’t complain about the light at Steiner!

I don’t think we could have asked for a more pleasant evening as everyone went to the balcony upstairs for cocktails. And the views of the city are amazing.

Scott and all the guys in his family took the stage to play for everyone!
